    Description

I offer for your consideration this beautiful 125 year old Crown Lavender Pocket Salts, London Perfumery, Emerald Green Glass, Crown Top with original Leather Purse.
Research suggests that Society found it necessary to have Salts with them at all times and, in 1895, the Crown Perfumery Company began selling the Pocket Salts purse.  William Sparks Thomson had received a patent (U.S. Patent 565,373 August 4, 1896) for a combined bottle and case to securely protect a small watch-shaped bottle with its crown shaped stopper from injury (see picture of illustration provided).  The purse also acted as a display stand, for when fully opened it would hold the bottle in an upright position without the use of additional support.  This became his Pocket Salts purse, made of genuine kid leather.
This is a small 2" watch-shaped bottle and leather purse.  Crown would describe these as glove and purse sized bottles.
The items Condition is what might be expected for something 125 year old.  The bottle is in good shape but the leather purse has some wear and tear as shown.  You will love the design, and it will take a long time to find another one, so make this exceptionally nice piece of early
    hygiene
    history!
You will not come across classic bottles this complete and nice often so don't let someone else take it away!
I always attempt to describe the item's condition accurately and completely however, I ask that you please review the images carefully, as a part of this description, and asses the condition of the item for yourself prior to purchasing.
