DESCRIPTION
When the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum was renovating some historic aircraft in the 1970s and 1980s, they made the original fabric available to the public with their "Aviation Relic Series". Each poster featured a picture of the aircraft, a brief description, and a square piece of the original fabric.
This professionally mounted and framed display is of the Bleriot XI, with a fabric piece that measures about 1 5/8" square. The description is as follows:
On July 25, 1909 Louis Bleriot flew the English Channel in a frail monoplane powered by a three cylinder Anzani engine that developed only 25-30 horsepower. Over the next five years hundreds of copies of the Bleriot 11 were produced, making it one of the most popular aircraft in the pre-World War 1 era. The Bleriot 11 in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum was built in 1914. Fitted with a Gnome Sigma engine, the machine was flown by Swiss exhibition pilot John Domenjoz in Europe and the United States.
The back of the frame has a pocket with an information sheet about the Bleriot XI. The display measures 17 3/4" x 23" and is in very good condition, with only a few nicks and scrapes on the frame's wood.

RETURNS
New Items Only: If an item is damaged during shipping or if you feel an item is not as described, you may return it to us within 7 days of delivery. Please contact us before returning an item so we can provide you with an RMA number and mailing address. Items returned for any other reason will incur a 15% restocking fee.
Used and Vintage Items: If an item is sold "AS-IS", it cannot be returned.
