    EXTREMELY RARE Vintage Photograph of the Abrams P1 Strato-Plane “The Explorer” High Altitude Photographic Mapping Aircraft Including Airplane Specifications and Featuring Inventor Talbert Abrams Sitting in the Rear Compartment. This photo is Stamped “ABRAMS AERIAL SURVEY CORPORATION” “LANSING, MICHIGAN” and “25197”. Dimensions: 10” x 7 1/2”. Estimated Photograph Age 1938-1941. Talbert Abrams was an American Photographer and Survey Pioneer Aviator Known as the “Father of Aerial Photography”. He Founded Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation in 1923, then Abrams Aircraft Corporation in 1937 to Build and Market the P-1 Explorer Plane. Mr Abrams Invented this Experimental Aircraft to Meet His Needs for Excellent Visibility, Stability and Avoidance of Engine Oil Streaking from the Front Onto His Sensitive Camera Equipment, so it was Designed with the Engine and Prop Behind the Navigation and Photography Compartments. This Photograph Features the Original Build of the Plane Prior to Wing Stabilization Struts that were Added in 1938. Only ONE of these Aircraft was Built! This Special Airplane is Currently at the Smithsonian in Aviation Storage Awaiting Restoration.
