    Up for auction is a Rar
    e Czech Red Glass Intaglio in Jeweled Brass
    Holder Open Salt Cellar.
    It is extremely rare to find a red glass intaglio, especially one that is embellished with a jeweled brass holder.
    I have well over 200 intaglios and only two red ones in my collection.
    I think so few were made as it is a bit hard to see the lovely etched scenes when you don't have a direct light source behind them.
    This oval intaglio is made of pretty rich red glass, almost an amberina color as it has a bit of yellow running through the middle.
    It is deeply etched and nicely frosted with an image of a small cherub handing a bouquet of flowers to a women in a flowing gown.
    An ornately designed brass piece is permanently affixed to the rim with two elaborate side clips embellished with round facet cut ruby red stones.
    The piece measures 1/2" high, 1-3/4" wide, 2-3/8' in length and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites to the intaglio and all original stones intact.
    A rare find!!
