Jean Gardner Batten [1909 1982] was a New Zealand aviation pioneer who began her aviation career in 1929 and obtained both private and commercial licenses. During the early 1930's she began a series of record setting trans-world solo flights which included the first ever solo flight from England to New Zealand in 1936. Listed for auction is the autograph of Jean Gardner Batten signed on a card. The autograph is signed on the front ''Jean Batten 23 June 1936'' in black fountain pen and signed as follows on the verso ''Royal Aero Club London. WI. England, Many thanks for your nice letter and congratulations. Jean Batten'' in black fountain pen. The card measures 5.00 x 3.00 inches, has a trivial indent otherwise it is in fine condition and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope.
